Abenex strengthens its small-cap team

Abenex announces nine promotions across its teams

Abenex, a B-Corp-certified longstanding player in French and European private equity, counts +50 professionals in its four offices based in Paris, Lyon, Amsterdam and Milan.

Abenex is pleased to announce the promotion of nine of its employees within the Mid-Cap, Real-Estate, Operational and Investor Relations teams:

  • The Mid-Cap team is made up of 15 investment professionals, and is currently investing its sixth-generation fund (final closing in 2022 at c.600 million euros).
  • The Real Estate team, comprising five members led by Vincent Brunswick (Partner), provided investments in nine real estate projects since the launch of its Value-Add strategy in 2019.
  • The Operations team, which was set up in 2009 and is a pioneer in France, has seven members, including dedicated Sustainability, Talent Management and IT experts.
  • The IR, Fundraising & Marketing team, with four members, is responsible for relations with existing investors, fundraising and marketing.

 

Mid-Cap Team

 

Matthieu BalaÿMatthieu Balaÿ, Managing Director

Matthieu is promoted to Managing Director within the Mid-Cap team, which he joined in 2014.

He began his career in 2010 as a project finance analyst in the renewable energy sector at Crédit du Nord. He then moved to the Corporate Finance department, where he was involved in a dozen structured finance and M&A transactions.

Matthieu graduated from the University of Lille in Finance and from the ISARA engineering school.

 

 

 

 

 

Antonio Catalli, Managing Director (Milan)

Antonio is promoted to Managing Director in the Abenex Mid-Cap team in our Milan office.  He began his career in M&A at J.P. Morgan in London, where he had a generalist coverage throughout EMEA (Europe, Middle-East, Africa). He also spent a year in the M&A team at Rothschild in Paris. Before joining Abénex, he worked in an entrepreneurial investment fund based in London, where he had a specific focus on Southern Europe, particularly Italy. Antonio Catalli graduated from ESCP.

 

 

 

 

 

Guillaume Bladier, Associate

Guillaume is promoted to Associate in the Mid-Cap team at Abenex. Graduate from EM Lyon, Guillaume provided several assignments in audit, company valuation and mergers & acquisitions before turning to Private Equity. He joined Abenex’s investment teams following his final year internship.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Real Estate team

 

Thibault De La Baronnière, Director

Thibault is promoted to Director at Abenex, in charge of sourcing and executing Real Estate value-add acquisitions. He began his career in 2010 at J.P. Morgan in Paris, in the Wealth Management division, before joining the single-family office of a Belgian billionaire family for whom he worked in France and abroad as head of investments. He then co-founded and managed a fintech aimed at democratizing access to financial investment before turning to real estate in 2018. He then became a capital markets broker at Groupe Babylone where he advised professional investors on all types of real estate transactions and later on became investment manager at Groupe Arcange. Thibault graduated from HEC Paris and holds a DSCG.

 

 

 

Brando Del Santo, Associate

Brando is promoted to Associate at Abenex, within the real estate team.

He is involved in the analysis and execution of real estate acquisition projects. Originally from Italy, Brando began his career in market finance at Natixis, then moved into real estate investment at Abenex. Brando graduated from EM Lyon and the Sorbonne university.

 

 

 

 

 

Operational Team

 

Oriane Dintrans, Director

Oriane is promoted to Director within the Operational Team. She contributes with the entire team to the execution of development and transformation projects of portfolio companies. Oriane is from Paris. Graduated from ESSEC, she started her career in 2016 with the consulting firm Kea & Partners. For 5 years, she supported companies from various sectors on development, transformation, and process improvement and optimization assignments. Previously, she worked on the customer experience digitalization within the auction house Artcurial. Oriane is also Oriane Dintrans is also appointed at the new France Invest “Under 35” Board of Directors.

 

 

 

 

Pierre Masdoumier, Director

Pierre is promoted to Director within the Operational team. He started his career in 2014 at BearingPoint and then joined Accenture Strategy back in 2017. For eight years, he advised large industrial companies on strategic and transformation projects with a strong digital overtone from one end of the operations value chain to the other. Pierre graduated from Arts et Métiers Paris Tech and the Sorbonne.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sandra Pekle, Sustainability Associate

Sandra is promoted to Sustainability Associate within the Abenex Operational Team. She studied and worked in Portugal, Germany and the United States. Sandra graduated from ESCP with a Master’s degree in International Sustainability Management, specialising in sustainable development and corporate social responsibility. In 2021, she began her career in private equity at Abenex, following an experience in sustainable development at the L’Oréal Foundation in Paris.

 

 

 

 

 

 

IR, Fundraising & Marketing team

 

 

Antoine Mellon, Director, Head of Investor Relations

Antoine is promoted to Director, Head of Investor Relations. He looks after the firm’s investor relations and capital raising activities, and is also responsible for Abenex’s marketing and communication. He began his career in 2011, at Access Capital Partners, in the Investor Relations and Marketing team. In 2016, Antoine joined Coller Capital, in London where he was focusing on the production of marketing collateral, contributing to the funds’ capital raising as well as the marketing positioning and communication strategy. Antoine graduated from Sciences Po Paris (Master Finance et Stratégie), and Royal Holloway College (BSc in Economics with Spanish).
